Primordial hosts Workshop with Curious Ant
At Primordial, we believe community compounds capital. Investing is only the starting point — what truly accelerates our companies is the collective knowledge, resources, and networks we activate around them. That’s why we’re committed to bringing world-class expertise directly to our founders, helping them not only secure capital but also sharpen strategy and scale with confidence. As part of this commitment and model, we recently hosted a Branding & Positioning workshop for Primordial portfolio founders, led by Robert Birnbach, the founder of Curious Ant.
Founded in 2019, Curious Ant is a branding and marketing agency created by Robert Birnbach. Drawing on experience from both the client and agency sides, the team focuses on helping companies define what makes them distinctive and build a clear foundation for their brand. Their approach emphasizes asking the right questions, clarifying vision, and aligning strategy with values so that brands can communicate in ways that feel authentic and lasting. This mix of strategic insight and practical application has made Curious Ant a trusted partner for companies across stages and industries.
Over coffee and pastries (from Loaf, a neighborhood favorite), Robert guided our founders through a fast-paced, interactive session on what it really means to put brand at the center of a company’s story. For early-stage teams in our portfolio — where every customer call, case study, and fundraising pitch can shape the trajectory of the business — this perspective is especially critical. Too often, brand is treated as a surface-level exercise or something to worry about later, but the workshop reframed it as a core driver of strategy and growth from day one.
Robert emphasized that brand is a silent co-founder, shaping perception and building trust before you even enter the room. He also described brand as a verb, expressed through every product decision, customer conversation, and investor interaction. When companies anchor themselves in their values, growth stops feeling like a series of disconnected efforts and instead flows with clarity and purpose. This alignment helps avoid “random acts of marketing” and enables outreach that is consistent, intentional, and capable of nurturing long-term relationships that compound over time.
Workshops like this are part of the broader founder programs we run at Primordial Ventures, designed to help our portfolio sharpen positioning, expand into new markets, and communicate more effectively. By tapping into our network and community, we aim to bring the right experts and insights at the right time, so founders can keep optimizing their businesses and moving faster.
We’re excited to see how our community of founders takes these lessons forward in their customer conversations, fundraising discussions, and beyond. Thank you so much to the Curious Ant team — Robert, Anoush, Jason — and our portfolio company founders for such an energizing morning!
